CMR quantification of aortic regurgitation in asymptomatic patients with significant aortic regurgitation: prediction of clinical outcome

چکیده
Introduction The timing of valve surgery in asymptomatic patients with significant aortic regurgitation can be challenging. Current indications focus on symptoms and left ventricular (LV) dilation/dysfunction, but prognosis is already reduced by this time. Quantification of the regurgitation has not previously been used to guide management, likely due to the difficulty of achieving this with echocardiography. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) can accurately quantify aortic regurgitation and LV volumes, and we examined whether either could predict symptom development and the need for aortic valve surgery.

Although classic and standard procedure for patients with ascending Aorta aneurysm with Sever aortic Regurgitation is Bentall surgery but in some selected cases this complex surgery was not performed with different reason like advanced age and coexisting comorbidity involving renal and hepatic and lung Function. In our cases 75 years old man with chronic renal failure ( Cr= 3.2 ) who was known ...

Background Exact quantification of aortic valve regurgitation is a challenge. Patients are typically asymptomatic and echocardiography is unreliable in certain conditions, particularly in eccentric regurgitation jets. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is a valuable alternative in this situation, but the use of conventional sequences without respiration correction is limited by motion artifacts a...
متن کاملAortic regurgitation quantification using cardiovascular magnetic resonance: association with clinical outcome.
BACKGROUND Current indications for surgery in patients with significant aortic regurgitation (AR) focus on symptoms and left ventricular dilation/dysfunction. However, prognosis is already reduced by this stage, and earlier identification of patients for surgery could be beneficial. Quantifying the regurgitation may help, but there are limited data on its link with outcome. Cardiovascular magne...
متن کاملA Rare Case of Severe Aortic Regurgitation with Silent Ascending Aortic Dissection
Classically, ascending aortic dissection (AD) presents as sudden, severe chest pain that is tearing type and radiates to the back. Herein, we present a rare case of severe aortic regurgitation with silent ascending AD, which had no chest pain symptoms. The aortic valve apparatus probably masked this AD; therefore, it was not detected by echocardiography and during the surgery.

Background and purpose: The purpose of the study was to asses the natural and clinical course of isolated ventricular defect in children. Materials and methods: Patients and Methods: From 1997 to 2011 we prospectively studied a total of 218 infants and children diagnosed as isolated ventricular septal defects. The Çhi-squar or Fisher exact Test and ÂNÔVÂ were used to compare the difference...
